Austria: Highwater Damages Higher Than in 2002

A surface of 22,000 hectars was flooded in Austria. The Chamber of Agriculture estimates damages to be highter than during the last major flood in 2002.

According to preliminary estimates an agricultural area of 22,000 hectars was flooded; 14,000 hectars of arable land, 7,000 hectars of grass land, and 1,000 hectoras of fruit and vegetable cultivation areas are concerned.
