The Austrian political landscape has changed. New parties will enter the Austrian Parliament. Nevertheless, there is no realistic alternative to the “grand coalition” between SPÖ and ÖVP.

According to the first extrapolations, the governing social democrats have reached the worst result in their history. With 26.5% of the votes, SPÖ still ranks first. In total, SPÖ lost about 2.4 percentage points.
