WIFO: Austrian Manufacturing Industry in Good Position

The economic recovery driven by exports and the manufacturing industry continued in the fall: the GDP grew 2.4% over the previous year in the third quarter.

Production has been expanding again since spring 2009. By now, over half the decline in production has been compensated. In September 2010, the production index of the manufacturing industry was 11% (seasonally adjusted) above the lowest point of May 2009. However, self-supporting investment growth has not started yet, despite a trend towards normalcy.
