Herbert Tumpel, head of the Austrian Chamber of Labor presented a study showing that psychic diseases cause economic costs of € 3.3bn per year. The economist Gudrun Biffl (WIFO – Austrian Institute of Economic Research) expects that costs are twice as high. Biffl says that workers who still go to work, but are unproductive must be included.
