Labor Market Continues Strong Development
The number of employed, vacancies, and full-time jobs increased in the first quarter of 2011. The feared inrush of job seekers from Eastern Europe did not materialize.

According to Statistics Austria, the number of employed amounted to a total of 4.072 million in the first quarter of 2011 and thus increased by 49,000 persons compared to the first quarter of 2010. The number of employees as well as the number of self-employed increased (+30,000 resp. +19,000).
