In the first month after the introduction of the minimum benefit already 14,500 applications have been submitted. A significantly lower demand had been expected.

The minimum benefit is the new form of social assistance, in force since a month ago. The program runs under the official title of “Bedarfsorientierte Mindestsicherung” (BMS, minimum benefit according to need).
