The Austrian export activity slowed down in the fourth quarter, but the pessimistic expectations did not become real. In 2011, Austrian exports were up by 12%.

According to the export indicator published by Austrian Central Bank (OeNB), exports stagnated in the fourth quarter. A decrease, which was expected before, has not been observed.

After an excellent first quarter, export growth was down again. In October, goods exports declined by 5.8% against the previous month. However, in November and December, the decrease could be offset.…
