In 2012, the population of the Czech Republic increased by 10.7 thousand to 10 516.1 thousand persons.

The number of births exceeded the number of deaths only by 0.4 thousand persons and the number of immigrants exceeded the number of emigrants by 10.3 thousand persons. The number of divorces was lower (by 1.7 thousand) as well as the number of abortions (by 1.1 thousand) than in 2011.
