Since 2008, the Austrian government has resolved rescue packages worth € 21bn. Expenses totaled € 4.169bn, revenues reached € 1.814bn.

According to the economist Margit Schratzenstaller (WIFO – Austrian Institute of Economic Research), costs of the Austrian banking package total € 2.36bn since 2008. Schratzenstaller does not believe that the banking package may ever become profitable.
