Austria's Insurance Industry is Optimistic

The Austrian insurance industry showed premium increases in all sectors in 2010, with premium income rising by 2.0% to € 16,748bn.

Total insurance benefits amounted to € 11,808bn in 2010, representing a decrease of 3.1% compared with the previous year.  According to the latest forecasts for 2011, total premium income for the complete year will increase by about 1.4% to € 16,979bn. By December 31, 2010, customers entrusted a total of € 98,300bn in investments to the domestic insurance companies.
