Austrian Banks Hold € 18bn in Foreign Sovereign Bonds

At the end of October 2011, the exposure of Austrian banks in foreign sovereign bonds was € 18.1bn. The largest volumes are invested in Poland and Italy.

The Ministry of Finance published the figures of foreign sovereign bonds held by Austrian banks. What is not surprising, is that Austrian banks have the biggest exposure in the CEE region. The largest exposure was made in Poland. Austrian banks hold € 2,84bn in Polish bonds. Italian bonds total € 2.82bn, German bonds have a volume of € 2.29bn.
