Austria: Welfare Fraud Costs € 1bn Per Year

According to a study, which was commissioned by the Chamber of Commerce (WKO) and carried out by the Johannes-Kepler University in Linz, social fraud causes a smaller amount of economic damage than fiscal evation and black labor.

The economical harm which is caused by social fraud in Austria runs up to a total of € 1bn per year and is therefore a smaller amount than with tax evation or black labor. This temporary result was presented by the University of Linz and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
