ADX Energy Ltd announced that the Tunisian authorities have agreed a schedule of supervision designed to ensure safe rig mobilization and efficient drilling operations for the Sidi Dhaher exploration well.

ADX anticipates that road clearance, traffic control and road safety measures to be provided by the Tunisian authorities will allow rig mobilization to commence on June 20. Once mobilization is completed, rig up and equipment testing will start immediately in order to enable drilling operations to commence as soon as possible. The company expects that drilling could start early July.

The project had to be delayed due to political unrest and the following change in government in the North African country. “Our contact persons are the same as before the revolution, but the authorities’ behavior has changed”, explained managing director Wolfgang Zimmer. “Support by the police, which is absolutely necessary for our project, was suddenly gone after the revolution.”

The Sidi Dhaher prospect is located in the 2,428 square kilometers large Chorbane Exploration Permit onshore central Tunisia near the port city of Sfax. It is surrounded by several producing oil fields and extensive oil and gas infrastructure. The company expects a 60% probability of finding at least one oil or gas-bearing layer.
